Featuring a high-speed chain, the Stihl MSA 161 T can cut through logs fast.
Felling small trees, sectioning logs and even sculpting wood has never been so easy since the introduction of the MSA161 T. This cordless chainsaw from Stihl can be operated anywhere at any time, indoors or outdoors. How you may ask?
Firstly, the AP system of batteries will give you a minimum of 42 minutes runtime, no need to worry about carrying petrol or finding the nearest powerpoint.
Secondly, with no combustion engine means there are no fumes. So you can work in enclosed areas such as a warehouse or log cabin without the worry of emissions.
Thirdly, the Stihl electric motor that powers the MSA 161 T is extremely quiet, therefore, you can work in noise-sensitive areas or unsociable hours. The motor is also very efficient and requires less maintenance compared to petrol models.
Finally, electrically powered motors do not vibrate as much as engine powered power tools, meaning you can use the machine for longer without hand fatigue.
All the benefits of a petrol chainsaw with none of the drawbacks.
Compared to a petrol chainsaw, the MSA161T offers huge advantages being cordless powered but still operates as a professional chainsaw should.
For example, you still get to use a ¼ P low profile chain to achieve that precise and smooth finish, whilst reducing chain chatter. There’s also a side chain tensioner, and a handguard to promote safety. And it still delivers the same level of high power as some similar sized chainsaws from the brand.
However, it’s fair to say the MSA 161 T is safer compared to its petrol-powered version. On the side of this cordless chainsaw are a side lock button and dedicated ring for carrying by tree climbers. This means, no unintentional starting of the power tool. Additionally, this machine also features a QuickStop Super Chain Brake so the chain stops immediately when the user let’s go of the rear handle, throttle or when the front guard is activated. As a consequence, when there be a strong kick-back the chain shuts off automatically, offering further protection.
Features We Like
Side chain tensioner
The tensioning screw can be found on the side of the chain saw through the sprocket cover. This removes the need for contact with the sharp saw chain.
QuickStop Super Chain Brake (Q)
The additional braking system for extra safety. Users can trigger the chain brake directly at the rear handle. The chain stops in seconds whenever the user lets go of the rear handle and whenever there is sufficiently strong kickback or when the front hand guard is activated. This unique safety feature ensures even more user protection in all working positions.
New operating system
Side-lock button for increased safety remains locked until this button is pushed in.
Toolless filler cap
The tank can be filled quickly and easily using the toolless filler cap.
STIHL Electric Motor (EC)
The STIHL electric motor (EC) is extremely energy efficient, lightweight and compact. It runs quietly, generates very low vibrations and does not require servicing.
Ensures clear feedback when engaging or disengaging the chain brake.
