Handles with heating provide the MS 462 C-M VW additional comfort in cold weather.
All modes of operation of this fully electronic engine management system adjust ignition timing and fuel metering. Additionally, it considers external conditions such as temperature, altitude, and fuel quality. The engine performance remains consistent, maximum speed remains constant, and acceleration is superb.
Manual carburettor adjustments are no longer necessary with M-Tronic. Due to the electronic cold/warm start recognition, the combi-lever now only has one start position. Despite a cold start, the engine starts after fewer pulls and with no change in position, allowing it to accelerate immediately up to speed.
As well as remember the last settings, M-Tronic also remembers which product was used last. Then, every time you start up, your engine will be performing at its best, regardless of the external conditions.
Having a low power to weight ratio
This chainsaw is the lightest in its cubic capacity class among professional chainsaws. In addition to the angled cooling ribs on the cylinder, the compact sprocket cover, the light crankcase, the weight-optimized flywheel, and the Rollomatic ES Light rail, the MS 462 C-M VW is noticeably lighter.
A new system for the oil pump in Stihl Ematic
New oil pump systems deliver more oil. This will be particularly useful if you are using a guide bar in dusty conditions or long and thin.
A valve that releases pressure
Easy starting is made more accessible by the decompression valve. Pressing the valve before starting will reduce the compression pressure when starting and the effort required to pull the starter rope. The decompression valve is semi-automatic; it must be pressed manually to start but then automatically shuts off.
2-MIX-Engine, made by Stihl
One-in-four channel technology. The efficient Stihl MS 462 C-M VW 2-MIX engine provides a wide speed range with 1-in-4channel technology. Chainsaws equipped with 2-MIX technology perform as well as engines featuring two-strokes without savings of up to 20%. Up to 50% of exhaust emissions are reduced.
Vibration suppression system
Power tools with intense vibrations at the handles have been shown to damage blood vessels in the hands and arms over time. Stihl has therefore developed an anti-vibration system that dampens the engine’s oscillations and reduces vibrations at the handle.
Radial seal for HD2 filter
The new HD2 air filter from PET material features a radial seal to prevent dust particles from entering the MS 462 C-M VW engine. By using a hermetic seal, the engine will last longer and wear less.
A carburettor controller prevents the fuel-air mixture from getting richer as the air filter becomes clogged. Depending on the amount of air passing through the air filter, the correct amount of fuel is delivered to the carburettor. Thus, the fuel/air ratio in the combustion mixture and the engine power remains constant. Until there is an appreciable drop in power, the filter does not need to be cleaned.
With captive nuts, you do not have to worry about losing the sprocket nuts. This is an advantage for all users.
A tensioning screw can be found on the chain saw’s side, beneath the sprocket cover. The sharp chain of the saw is not required to be touched.
ElastoStart from Stihl
ElastoStart reduces engine starting shocks caused by compression. A spring or rubber element in the starter handle removes the compression shock from the user’s joints and muscles.
Stop button functionality
Control levers immediately return to operating positions after the Stihl MS 462 C-M VW is turned off. Restarting a warm device this way allows for immediate results.
The sprocket cover has been optimized.
Sprocket covers with lower, narrower profiles and integrated slide rails ensure outstanding chip removal.
